If you want ANY form of update on care, treatment, or condition besides "hes doing ok" or the 20 day care meeting and 90 day followup meetings, do not go here. After expressing my concerns that after 3 weeks of my father being transferred there, and I never even received a notice he had even arrived, I was told to request a care team meeting, then without any time to prepare questions about what's being done for him, they call to have his 20 day meeting with no explanation of what is the plan for his future care. I asked if the "im sorry your father has passed" would be the only update I can expect to receive was told absolutely not, we will send updates on how he is and what treatments are being done for him. Sadly, my fears were confirmed when I was called and told he had passed. I was able to go and see him before he was transferred to the funeral home, and was interviewed before leaving about "what I heard had happened". Shouldn't they be more informed of what happened IN THEIR BUILDING than I would be over an hour away? I know the Healthcare system sucks right now, but it won't be hard to find somewhere better. Understaffed, overpriced, patients dont have a choice of food options. If you cant afford a private room, they will stick you in a bed in front of the door to the room with no privacy, and then when using the urinal or commode, say that you need to cover yourself for when people walk by the room. Staff were rude to my father, obviously unhappy with their jobs, and possibly taking it out on patients. Definitely dont recommend
Kudos to Genesis-Laconia Rehab for the care and kindness provided to my brother during his 3.5 year stay. While not always the easiest patient, Laconia never failed to provide him with the medical care he needed. From administration to the nursing team - everyone was top notch. Heartfelt thanks to Genesis-Laconia.
My Dad has been here for a couple weeks the staff has been very kind, supportive and helpful on his journey. He hasn't been the easiest patient but everyone has been really patient and caring during a very difficult situation. We wish it was closer to home as Dad has a long road to recovery ahead therefore we are choosing to have him stay at a place closer to home so we can visit more often.
My family strongly advises against choosing Genesis Rehab for anyone’s care. The condition of the facility is unacceptable — the rooms had broken fixtures and were poorly maintained. My grandfather spent several weeks there and continuously suffered from severe digestive issues. He informed the nursing staff multiple times, yet no meaningful action was taken to address his concerns. We were told that lab samples had been collected and sent out for testing, but when we followed up, staff seemed unsure whether the samples had even been sent. They promised to check their computers and update us, but after several voicemails and no return calls, we later found out — upon discharge — that the samples taken over two weeks prior had never been sent in the first place. During a care meeting, my grandfather asked if he could see a doctor about his ongoing digestive problems. Shockingly, the staff responded as though it was the first time they were hearing about it, despite his repeated complaints over several days. The overall lack of communication, follow-through, and compassion was deeply troubling. His roommate, who was clearly in severe pain, spent his days and nights moaning without relief — no one seemed to care or intervene. We are grateful that my grandfather had family members to advocate for him, but I fear for those who don’t. In this place, without support, a person could be left to suffer in silence and despair. If I could publicly condemn this facility, I would without hesitation.
The staff are very nice, and everyone is very caring. The food on the other hand is terrible. My mom has been there for almost two years. It was better when she first arrived. The medical staff could be more involved with the family and results of matters that concern patients. Results for medical test do not get relayed in a timely manner. Having more activity’s to do would also be a great plus. They love bowling, and movie nights, and cards! But Covid has played a role In that however I think it’s important for mental wellness
